Peter VerdicchioA founding member of SEC Planning, Peter’s professional experience encompasses a wide variety of project types from master planned community design to implementing entitlement strategies. He is also a recognized expert in the field of active adult community design. Throughout his career he has had the opportunity to work with leading homebuilders, providing design solutions to achieve project and land development goals. Possessing nearly fifteen years of national land planning and design experience, he recognizes the importance of influencing factors upon any project. From anti-growth codes to challenging terrain, Peter knows how to find a balance that results in successful outcomes for each project. His designs, rooted in the core principles of good planning, bring together the natural features of the land with the desired experience of the end user, resulting in exceptional built environments.

Mark Baker, ASLA

Principal

Mark BakerAs a founding member of SEC Planning with 15 years experience in the planning and landscape architecture profession, Mark has had the opportunity to work nationally with private developers and municipalities. Through each project he works with clients to define their development goals and design spaces that bring their vision to reality. He brings a wealth of experience and insight to each project, presenting design options and ideas to achieve each client’s goals. With each project he works to navigate the development process by building consensus, obtaining approvals and gaining public support, allowing each project to move forward. He is able to identify opportunities to create unique places that stand apart from the competition. His experience includes master planned community design, campus planning, mixed use developments, civic planning, park and open space planning and community thematic design.

Joe Verdoorn, RLA

Joe VerdoornDuring his 30 year career as a landscape architect, Joe’s involvement in the design, planning and realization of a diverse range of projects results in a unique perspective on the land development process. His extensive knowledge is built upon years of experience guiding the planning process for an impressive array of projects located across the country. Joe is recognized as a pioneer in the field of active adult community design, having designed dozens of 55+ communities that cater to the unique lifestyle needs of the senior market. With the aging of the Boomer generation, Joe continues to research this demographic and design communities that appeal to their ever changing needs and wants. His planning and design experience also extends to master planned communities, university/campus planning, environmental studies, park and recreational planning, urban design, expert witness testimony and historic preservation. A registered landscape architect in Texas, he has been recognized as an Outstanding Alumni of Texas A&M University, College of Architecture for his many contributions to the profession.

Matthew Masters, RLA,ASLA

Director of Landscape Architecture, Southeast

Matthew MastersCombining a love for artistry and sustainable design, Matt has over 19 years of professional experience working on a variety of projects in both the public and private sectors. A prolific designer, he is a registered landscape architect in Georgia, Alabama, Missouri, Nevada, North Carolina, South Carolina, Tennessee and Wisconsin, overseeing the design and development of projects from concept through construction. Working with each client, he utilizes a wealth of diverse influences to achieve a project’s design objectives. This combined with his understanding and appreciation of the natural environment results in extraordinary designs that highlight the inherent beauty and character of a place. By the integration of built and natural environments through landscape architectural design, Matt creates places that are both beautiful and functional.
